Margaret F. Wolff was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada on January 23, 1909 to Robert M. and Florence V. Platte. She passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2010 at the age of 100.
She was educated in Carman, Manitoba, Canada, graduating from the Carman’s General Hospital with a diploma in nursing. She was active in nursing for many years, doing private duty in her home area. In 1936, she went to Duluth, Minnesota to nurse and eventually to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. In 1940, she moved to Rapid City and was on the staff of Black Hills General Hospital where she met and married Frank W. Wolff in 1942.
Margaret and Frank ranched for a number of years before Margaret returned to nursing in Rapid City. She spent the remainder of her nursing career at Bennett Clarkson Memorial Hospital in a number of supervisory roles including Director of Nursing. She retired in 1975 after 25 years of service.
At one time, Margaret was active in Business and Professional Women’s Club, charter member of Altrusa Club, member of Women of the Moose, and has been a member of First Congregational Church for over 50 years.
Margaret is survived by her sister, Betty Dunn and two nephews, Blake and Garnet Dunn and their families of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; nephew, Travis Dunn and family of Moorhead, MN; and a niece, Kay (Phil) Wolff and family of Rapid City.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2010 from 10:00 am until service time at the First Congregational Church in Rapid City.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at 11:00 am at the First Congregational Church with Rev. Dr. Ted Huffman officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Lawn Memorial Park in Rapid City.
Memorials have been established to the First Congregational Church, Pennington Humane Society, and the Boys Club.
