Randall L. Sexton

The Lord called one of his children, Randall Lee Sexton, home on Thursday, February 25, 2010.
Randall was born January 17, 1958 in Deadwood to Donald D. and Betty (Prokop) Sexton. He attended the Lead schools graduating with the class of 1977. He attended Western Technical Trade School in Sidney, NE for heavy equipment. Randall served in the U.S. Navy for two years as a Boiler Technician.
Randall worked different jobs in many places, including Wyoming, Alaska, Ohio, Arizona and the last nine years in Rapid City. He was involved with the Big Brothers/ Big Sisters organization while living in Arizona. He enjoyed fishing, ice fishing, the outdoors and especially the fall of the year. For several years he enjoyed making sleds out of cardboard boxes and racing them at Deer Mountain. Randall was a member of Canyon Lake United Methodist Church in Rapid City. He was a van driver and picked up the elderly to bring them to church. Randall was active with the youth group for a time and helped with Sunday school and also drove for the youth groups when they went on group activities. He was always ready to help unload the semi truck of pumpkins for the youth project.
He is survived by his father, Donald Sexton of Spearfish, his mother, Betty Sexton-Bender and her husband Harold of Lead, his sister, Teresa Finger and her husband Kevin of Chanhassen, MN, step brother, Robert Bender of Lead, many uncles, aunts, cousins and his special friends, Daryle and Karyan Mergan of Colorado and Shannon Thornburg of Rapid City.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Myron, two sisters, Renee and Connie and his grandparents, George and Bessie Sexton and Elmer and Alberta Prokop.
Randall was a very loving, caring, compassionate, considerate person. He will be sadly missed by his family.
A memorial service will be at 10am on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at the Canyon Lake United Methodist Church (3500 Canyon Lake Drive) in Rapid City with Pastor DeAnn Eidem officiating.
